Obsession is an outstanding example of good suri phenotype. She has a beautiful, wedge-shaped head, upright conformation, and dense locks with high luster. Because her fleece is exceptionally fine and dense, we sheared Obsession in June.
Obsession's sire, George, stands stud in Canada and currently has over 25 offspring on the ground (many champions), ranging in color from white to fawn and browns. His son, Prodigy, won Champion and 1st Place Suri Full Fleece Beige Yearling Male and 2nd Place Bred and Owned Yearling Male at the 2007 Maryland Show.
Her dam, Opalessence of PVA, is one of those wonderful girls that stand out in the show ring as well as in the production barn. She won 2nd in a large class at the 2001 International Alpaca Odyssey and also won 2nd at the All American Futurity that year. When she retired from the show ring, she became an integral part of Ameripaca's foundation herd. She is an excellent milker, with a quiet temperament which she passes on to her offspring.
Obsession hasn't missed a beat since she was born. She more than doubled her weight the first month and weighed 99 lbs. at 6 months of age. In fact, she was so mature in 14 months (150 lbs.) that we decided to breed her. Obsession is currently bred to Chasqui, one of Ameripaca's best producers. Chasqui won 1st Place Full Fleece Get of Sire 2001 Big E, 1st Place Suri White Yearling Male at the 1997 AOBA National Conference, and 1st Place Suri Full Fleece White Yearling Male at the 1997 Fiber Fest. He has sired many champion and blue ribbon-winning offspring. Most recently, his daughter, Fatima, won White Suri Female Champion at the 2007 AOBA National Show.
