Appreciation Futurity

A futurity is a show in which the offspring of a nominated group of herdsires are eligible to be shown. At our Customer Appreciation Futurity now held on Breeder's Choice weekend, our eligible customers may compete for cash prizes!

If you own an alpaca between 6 and 24 months of age that was sired by any of an Ameripaca or Magical Farms herdsires, your alpaca is eligible to compete. If you purchase a herdsire from either Ameripaca or Magical Farms, you may nominate him in subsequent futurities, thereby making all of his offspring in the appropriate age range eligible to compete as well. Generally, it costs the owner of the herdsire a nomination fee to nominate their herdsire and owners of offspring a small fee to enter an eligible animal into the show. These fees go into a pot, and the money is used as cash prizes for the winners in the show.

Many animals offered in the Breeder's Choice Auction sell pre-registered in the 2006 Breeder's Choice Futurity that takes place the day following the sale (Sunday, October 8). Over $60,000 in prize money was awarded at last year's Futurity; this is an excellent way to showcase your animals and win some cash. Should a pre-registered animal you just purchased in the auction win, it would be like receiving a rebate on your purchase!
