2003
Breeder's Choice Auction
The 2003
Breeder's Choice Auction and Futurity, held
October 11-12, 2003,
was once again a huge success! Sixty-seven
alpacas plus two donation alpacas were sold
for a total of $2,164,500! Attendees came
from all over the United States as well as
Canada and Australia! Standard Lots sold for
$16,000 to $76,000 with an average of $32,007!

Check
in was on Friday for Attendees who brought
alpacas to compete in the Customer Appreciation
Futurity. Some farms also brought their farm
displays for presentation to the many visitors
who attend the Breeder's Choice looking for
information on the alpaca industry.

Mardi
Gras was the visual theme for this year's
event. Total attendance at the auction was over
750 people. Food and fun were had by all!

Plenty
of time was allowed on Friday and Saturday for
buyers to do their own hands-on inspection of
the alpacas they wished to bid on.

|

The
Ameripaca staff was present to help field questions
about each of the 21 alpacas we offered in this
year's auction.

Just
before the auction, the previewing pens were
all a buzz! Bidder's took one last look at the
alpaca they were shortly to bid on.

At
auction time, the barn was packed!
Over 750 people were in attendance, with an
additional 639 who watched the entire auction
via a live web presentation which peaked at
over 1,000 viewers!

Ameripaca
and Magical Farms offered 67 of their premium
alpacas for sale at the auction plus two from
Ohio State's International Camelid Institute.

At
times, the bidding was fast and furious!

|
|

Huacaya
and suri alpacas were sold in every color including
white, fawn, brown, dark brown, black, rose
grey, silver grey, and fancy--all from premium
bloodlines!

Winning
bidders were presented with a Breeder's Choice
bottle of Champagne to celebrate their new purchase!

The
Futurity was held on Sunday for offspring of
Ameripaca and Magical Farms' herdsires. Over
$60,000 in prize money was awarded to the winners.

Many
of the Futurity winners and champions were purchased
the night before at the Breeder's Choice Auction--another
testament to the quality of the alpacas that
were sold.
